THQ & Games Workshop Extend Agreement to 2013

THQ has extended their licensing deal with tabletop games publisher Games Workshop to work on a MMO based on the sci-fi universe of Warhammer 40,000. The companies and developer Relic Entertainment have already produced the successful RTS Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and two expansions, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Winter Assault and the recently released Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade since 2004.

Austin based Vigil Games, a wholly owned developer of THQ, will be helming the project, with the release date currently unspecified. Details also confirmed that the licensing deal will be extended to 2013 and that the unnamed Warhammer 40,000 MMO will sit alongside Richard Garriot's upcoming MMO Tabula Rasa as a second big budget futuristic shooter.
